Staple "report"

Josh 2010
Staple! was a nice little con. In lieu of a report, here's links to all the nice people I met there and exchanged bits of conversation with. =)

Bill and Erik, by Mac Blake, who was a fellow Daily Texan cartoonist back in the day. He's doing his Texan comic as a webcomic now, and I say you should check it out
Full of Monkey, Thomas P. Reidy III's site. Also a former Texan cartoonist! I should look all these guys up and see what they're up to.
Stumblebum Studios, a really nice group of artists who sat next to me. Among them is Paul Milligan who bought my book and gave me a copy of his 24-hour comic, and Dave Sherrill, who's in a band that sounds rather nice.
Mack White, whom I can't link to as he doesn't seem to have a website, but he's a author published by Fantagraphics who was brave enough to buy Book 1 without knowing anything about my comic, and gave me a copy of a pulp comic he did back in '96 which includes a few a few strange stories with a religious motif, which I'll be reading before I go to bed tonight.
Girls with Slingshots by Danielle Corsetto. Recently I tried reading all the other webcomics that start with the word "Girl" and found out that just about all of them are really good.
Bike Gang, a really interesting line-action/animation project by Brock Rizy and Reagan Blank. I bought a 24-hour comic from Brock.
Wondermark by David Malki. He scans illustrations from old-tiney books and makes them into comics.
Reprographics by Chris Yates. I must confess I only read 2 of its 284 comics so far, but I'm pretty sure it's the best comic ever. I bought a rabbit knicknack with dollar signs painted on it from him, and I hope the fucking cat doesn't destroy it.
EK and Brett also stopped by. And bought things! Hooray!
Someone named Ana Vasquez was there too; her name was called out when she won a raffle. This is interesting 'cause that's the name of the person who lived in my apartment before I moved in. She left before I got a chance to ask her about it, though.

Sorry if I left anyone out!

Anyway, I liked it. It was an inexpensive, one-day con I got to do before the gathering storm of A-kon and San Diego. But not Mocca; I canceled that trip.

Also, my books came in. So many boxes.
